Imagine having a super-secret treasure map that led to the best choices, the happiest life, and zero regrets. You’d probably keep it in your backpack forever, right? Well, that treasure map actually exists; it’s God’s Wisdom for kids.
Now, you might think wisdom is just for grandparents with long grey beards, grown-ups or super-smart professors reading giant, heavy books. But wisdom isn’t just about being smart or passing a spelling test. Smart is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.
Smart is inside your brain, but wisdom is deep inside your heart.
What Is God’s Wisdom, Anyway?
God’s wisdom is like having answers to every exam in life. Because God created everything- the stars, the oceans, the animals, and you- He knows exactly how everything works best. We can find God’s wisdom only in His words (The Bible).
- Make Great Choices: Knowing what to do when you’re tempted to cheat, lie, or break something.
- Be a True Friend: Knowing how to speak kind words that build people up instead of knocking them down.
- Handle Big Feelings: Knowing what to do when you’re angry, scared, or jealous without exploding like a soda can.
Let us look at each wisdom passage one by one.
- Psalm 119:11 (ICB): “I have taken your words to heart so I would not sin against you.”
In this Bible verse, “heart” does not mean the physical organ that pumps blood.
The word “heart” means the inside part of you where you think, feel, remember, and make choices.
- Psalm 119:103 (ICB): “Your words are so sweet to me! They are sweeter than honey.”
The word “sweet” does not mean that the Bible tastes like sugar or honey.
It is a way of saying: “I really love God’s words because they are good for me and make me happy.”
This verse means that God’s Word is wonderful, helpful, and enjoyable to learn. Just as honey tastes sweet and delicious, God’s words can bring joy, comfort, wisdom, and encouragement to our hearts.
- Psalm 119:11 (ICB): “I have taken your words to heart so I would not sin against you.”
Here, “heart” means the inside part of us where we think, feel, remember, and make choices.
So, “I have taken your words to heart” means: “I have listened to God’s Word, remembered it, and allowed it to guide my choices.”
This verse means: “I remember what God teaches me and keep His words in my heart so they can help me make good choices and stay away from sin.”
- Isaiah 40:8 (ICB): “The grass dies, and the flowers fall. But the word of our God will stand forever.”
“Stand forever” means God’s Word will always remain true and trustworthy.
God’s promises do not expire. His truth does not change with time.
For example, when God says He loves us, His love and His promises remain true.
This verse teaches us that everything in this world can change or disappear, but God’s Word will always remain true.
- Psalm 19:7 (ICB): “The teachings of the Lord are perfect. They give new strength.”
When the Bible says “The teachings of the Lord are perfect,” it means God’s instructions are complete, good, and trustworthy.
- Matthew 4:4 (ICB): “A person does not live only on bread. He lives on every word that God says.”
Bread represents food, which our bodies need to grow and stay healthy. It does not mean that we eat the words in the Bible like food.
It means: “God’s Word is important for our lives because it teaches us, guides us, and helps us grow closer to Him.”But God’s Word is also important because it teaches us how to live, make good choices, trust God, and follow His ways.
- James 1:22 (ICB): “Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing.”
What does “do what God’s teaching says” mean
It means we should not only hear Bible stories, but also memorise verses, learn what God says, and then forget it.
For example, you may learn that the Bible says to be kind to others.
This verse teaches children that learning God’s Word is not enough—we should also put it into practice.
When we read the Bible or hear a Bible lesson, God wants us to use what we learn in our everyday lives.
- Proverbs 30:5 (ICB): “Every word of God is true. He guards those who come to him for safety.”
“Guards” means God watches over and cares for those who trust Him.
When we are afraid, worried, or facing something difficult, we can pray to God and ask Him for help and protection. This does not mean that nothing difficult will ever happen to us. Instead, it means we can trust God to be with us, care for us, and help us through difficult times.
This verse teaches children that everything God says is true and trustworthy. We can believe His Word and depend on Him when we need help, protection, or guidance.
- Psalm 33:4 (ICB): “God’s word is true, and everything he does is right.”
What does “God’s word is true” mean?
It means everything God says is trustworthy. When God gives us instructions or promises in the Bible, we can believe Him because God always tells the truth.
This verse teaches children that we can always trust what God says and trust that God does what is good and right.
God does not lie or make mistakes. His Word is true, and His actions are right and good.
- 2 Timothy 3:16 (ICB): “All Scripture is given by God and is useful for teaching, helping, and correcting people.”
It means that the message of the Bible comes from God.
The Bible teaches us that Scripture was given by God. So when we read the Bible, we are learning what God wants us to know.
This verse teaches children that the Bible is from God, and God gave it to help us learn how to live His way.
God’s wisdom helps children know what is right, make good choices, and live in a way that pleases Him. The Bible teaches us that God’s Word is true, helpful, and full of guidance. When children read God’s Word, listen to His teachings, and put them into practice, they can grow in wisdom and become more loving, kind, honest, and obedient. God’s wisdom is a gift that helps us every day, and we can always ask Him to help us make wise choices.
