This guide will help you teach young students about the Creation story in Genesis chapters 1-3. These chapters tell us about how everything began.
Hello kids! Today, we are going to learn about the wonderful story of how God made everything.
Before we start, let’s learn about who God is. God is so great:
God is Spirit.
We can’t see God, just like we can’t see air, but we can feel Him when we are close to Him. God wants us to do what is right, and when we pray and follow Him, we can feel His presence. “God is spirit. Those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth.” — John 4:24
He is the Creator
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). God made everything—me, you, animals, stars, and so much more.
He is the Boss of Everything
The Bible says God is King. You can’t hide from Him because He sees everything. Psalm 33:13-14 says, “The Lord looks down from heaven. He sees every person. From his throne, he watches everyone who lives on earth.” God rules over all leaders in the world. He is in charge of everything.
He is a Loving Father
1 John 4:8 says simply: “God is love. He loves us so much more than our dad. He is a perfect dad who is always ready to listen, care, and give you a hug with his peace. He loves you so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to make a way for you to be part of his family forever (John 3:16).
He is a Fixer
Nothing is Too Hard for Him! Jeremiah 32:17 – “Ah, Lord God! You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power… Nothing is too hard for you.”
He is to be Feared
Fearing God is not about talking about being scared of a bully. Instead, fearing God means loving Him so much that you will do what is right. Deuteronomy 6:18 – “Do what the Lord says is good and right. Then things will go well for you.” Also, respecting him so much that you know He’s the only one who can protect you and keep you safe.”
He is Holy
Holiness means that God is perfectly good. He has no sin. He is completely different from everyone else. He doesn’t make a mistake, never tells a lie, and is always perfectly fair. Deuteronomy 32:4 – “He is the Rock. His ways are perfect. All his ways are fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong. He is right and honest.” The coolest thing is that God wants us to be holy just like him, and he wants to help us become “holy” too.
He is be Praised
Because God is almighty and powerful and purer than we are, his holiness encourages us to praise his name always! “Psalm 29:2 – “Praise the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord because he is holy.” When we see God’s perfection, the best way is to thank him and celebrate him.
He Protects
God is like an invisible shield that protects you everywhere you go! Just like your mom or dad keeps you safe and sound at home and shields you from danger, God watches over you wherever you go. He guards your heart and keeps your life safe. The Bible tells us that He is bigger than our problems. So, when you feel scared, remember that God is always there, protecting you like a bright light that chases away dark shadows. The International Children’s Bible (ICB) says it this way: “God is our protection and our strength. He always helps in times of trouble. So we will not be afraid if the earth shakes, or if the mountains fall into the sea.” — Psalm 46:1-2
He Heals
God is the best doctor, but He doesn’t just heal your body; He also heals where our feelings live in the heart! God has this amazing power to heal a broken heart, like fear, stress, anger, and other feelings that make you sad. If you feel sick in your body or very sad inside, you can talk to Him. The Lord listens to your call for help and uses His love to make you better, stronger, and bubbling with smiles. “Lord my God, I prayed to you, and you healed me.” — Psalm 30:2
