The 7 Days of Creation

March 27, 2026

Imagine your school before classrooms and playgrounds were built. It was empty with nothing to show life. There were no children, toys, teachers, or anything.  It’s like being in a room with no windows, no lights, and no floor. Before God created the world, there were no trees to climb, no birds to chirp, and no sun to make us feel hot. It was just a big, dark, watery space waiting for a brilliant idea. It took God 7 days to create the beautiful world we now see and love today. Let us see what the 7 days of creation looked like, and how God decided to turn that “nothing” into “everything.” Step-by-step:

How God turned Nothing into Something – The 7 Days Creation Story

Day 1:  Light (Genesis 1: 3-5)

The world used to be a very dark place. God looked at the darkness and decided it needed some brightness. The first thing God did when He wanted to create the world was simply saying, “Let there be light,” And just like someone switches on the light, there was light. God created two kinds of light on the first day: light called “day” and darkness called “night.”

Day 2: The Sky,  (Genesis 1: 6-8)

Imagine yourself in a giant swimming pool that seems to go on forever, and you can’t see where the water ends and the sky begins; that was how the world was before God created the sky.  On the second day, God separated the waters on the earth from the clouds. In between, we have air to breathe.

Day 3:  The Sea, Dry Land and Plants (Genesis 1: 9-13)

God knows we would need a place to stand, run, and play, and so on. On the third day, God gathered the water together into one place so that we could have dry land. Then, He filled the land with green grass, tall trees, and colourful flowers for our enjoyment.

Day 4: The Sun, Moon and Stars (Genesis 1: 14- 19)

On the fourth day, God spoke into the light He created on the first day and divided it into two lights (Night and Daylight). He made the bright, glowing light (Sun) to rule the daytime and the gentle light (Moon), along with twinkling stars, to rule the night. God didn’t just want us to have light; He also wanted us to have other things, so He created seasons such as Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, so that we would always have a fresh start.

Day 5: The Fish and the Birds (Geneis 1: 20-23)

On the fifth day, God created the birds in the air and the sea creatures. He filled the air with all types of birds, like the pigeons and hummingbirds, and the seas with creatures like sharks, tortoises, and many more. God also told them to multiply and fill the earth, and that is why you can see many birds and different ocean animals today.

Day 6: Animals and Man (Genesis 1: 24-31)

On the sixth day, God created animals first. He filled the land with all kinds of animals that walk, hop, and crawl. After creating animals, God said, “Let us make man in our image and so God created the first man, Adam, from the dust of the earth. After forming the man, He breathed into his nostrils, and Adam became a living being.  God told them to increase, multiply, and fill the whole earth.

Day 7: God Rested (Genesis 2: 2-3)

On the seventh day of creation, after everything had been done, God chose that day to rest from all his works. He also blessed the day and called it Sabbath, making it holy.
